PROJECT OVERVIEW
Created to celebrate the premiere of Katy Perry’s Las Vegas residency PLAY, Rainbow Wall transforms hundreds of second-hand toys into a large-scale, immersive art installation designed to spark joy, curiosity, and participation.
Developed for The Handsome Little Devils production company and in partnership with Goodwill of Southern Nevada, the project gave new life to pre-loved objects by arranging them into a colorful, larger-than-life composition inspired by the playful energy and visual spectacle of Perry’s creative world.
While securely attached, the toys remain fully functional, inviting visitors to play a mini piano and electric guitar, press buttons to trigger lights and sound effects, spin wheels, pull levels, and discover countless surprise-and-delight moments embedded across the installation.
Initially unveiled as a temporary activation, Rainbow Wall found a permanent home at Slonina ARTSpace, where it continues to serve as a dynamic photo opportunity and hands-on experience for visitors. Its interactive nature encourages guests to explore, capture and share their experience, and become active participants in the installation itself.
By combining sustainability, community partnership and experiential design, Rainbow Wall demonstrates how public-facing art can create memorable moments while extending the life of second-hand materials through creative reuse.
